The First Labor Day parade was held in New York City on September 5, 1882. 10,000 union workers gathered together to rally for an eight-hour workday.
This Labor Day weekend, Union County miners dropped out of the day shift, anticipating that Monday holiday, be it for a day off or that extra time and half. Labor Day honors all workers, especially our Union County coal miners.
