Auditions have been scheduled for Once upon a Mattress, a Henderson Community Chorus/Henderson Community Theatre musical production sponsored by the Henderson Area Arts Alliance. With the help of Music Director Heather McCormick and Choreographer Deanna Meeks, Director Stacey Stratton plans to cast 5-6 male leads, 3-4 female leads, 6 male supporting roles, 7 female supporting roles, and several other court/chorus/extras.

Those interested may audition either Tuesday, January 16, or Wednesday, January 17, from 6:30-9:30 p.m. at Henderson Fine Arts Center on the campus of Henderson Community College. Callbacks are scheduled for Thursday, January 18, from 6:30-9:30. Those auditioning are encouraged to arrive at 5:30 p.m. to complete an informational form.

Auditioners should bring sheet music or a backup tape or CD (preferably not music from Mattress) for the vocal audition, wear comfortable clothes and shoes for the dance audition and improvisational exercises, and prepare a one-minute audition monologue.

The cast will meet the following week and begin regular rehearsals on Tuesday and Thursday nights from 6:30-9:30 with performances on April 13 and 14.

Potential cast members may be interested in attending How to Audition for a Musical, a free workshop scheduled for Tuesday, January 9, from 6:00-9:00.
